The Brand as a Guiding Thread

The Brand as a Guiding Thread

A brand creates coherence

In complex organisations, communication has to balance many audiences, channels and priorities. The brand can provide the orientation that keeps these activities connected.

In an interview with the communications lead of kbo, the role of the brand was described in one concise phrase: the guiding thread.

That idea remains highly relevant. A brand helps organisations make choices about what fits, how they communicate and how different activities relate to one another.

Authenticity and clarity

A guiding thread only works when it is credible. Clear, understandable communication, authenticity and communication at eye level are therefore essential.

For us, the guiding thread begins one step earlier: with identity. When an organisation understands what it stands for, brand strategy can translate that identity into a consistent system for design, communication and culture.

That is how a brand becomes more than a communication layer. It becomes a source of orientation.
